4 Reasons to groom your pets regularly

Just like us humans, our pets need to be groomed regularly. This is not only for them to look nice and shiny, but grooming is a great time to look out for any potential health issues.

Although it is known that cats are undoubtedly more hygienic than other household pets, even they too need a little help from their loving owners when it comes to touching up. So that goes without saying that itโ€™s our responsibility to take care of our pets ๐Ÿ™‚

Keeping shiny

Shampooing and brushing help to stimulate the natural oils in our pets’ coats to leave them looking shiny and silky-soft to the touch.

Coat trimming and brushing help battle matted coats, remove dirt, and prevent their fur from acting as breeding grounds for potential parasites and skin infections.

Clip them short

Trimming our pets’ nails with a pet-friendly nail clipper helps to keep their paws pain-free, and prevents their nails from tearing or splitting. Clipping also allows us to notice sensitive areas on their paws and ensure that there are no infections or growths in between their paws.

Prevention and early detection

Regular grooming helps us owners notice any abnormalities on our petsโ€™ skin when brushing such as fleas, ticks, lumps, or skin irritations. Regularly brushing your petsโ€™ teeth can help us notice when something looks or smells unusual. Ask your vet if you find anything unusual.

Feeling good

A gentle shampoo massage or brush down can help your pets relax while keeping them clean, and parasite free. This also means less shedding and fur all over the house.

If you bring your pets to a groomer, settle into a routine to help to build trust in your pets and grow more accustomed to human interaction. The more they visit the groomers, the more theyโ€™ll get used to being cleaned and touched by strangers which also helps when bringing them to a vet for a check-up!

Although many factors such as the breed, the length of their fur, and their type of coat determine how often we should give your furry friend a touch-up, regular grooming should be done at least once a month, if not more.

If you aren’t sure on how to clip your pet’s nails, or what products you should use, you can always check with your groomer or consult with one of our vets over a simple video call.

Pampering our pets helps them stay healthy and happy, and is a good way for us owners to show them just how much love and affection we have for them. Itโ€™s a good bonding experience for you and your pet with nothing but undivided attention!
